Weddingding, Dshenghis Khan and endless nature

Tue Aug 18, 2009, 11:57 PM
So next monday i'll leave. Its been quite sone time since I've planned for this trip, stressed around and in the end was overwhelmed how many things I need to organise.

On september 3rd I will marry my fiancée in Ulan Bator - Mongolia.
In the end it all comes different then planned.
In the last 5 years it was so clear to me that I will marry a chinese woman one day. The chinese culture grew so close to me it was just clear.
And now in 2 weeks I will marry a mongolian girl in Ulan Bator. And I am happy about it. I am sure there's no chinese girl that could make me happy like she does.

I spent the last months finding out about mongolian culture, history and traditions. In my heart I will always love the chinese culture and keep my chinese friends, I will keep doing Tai Chi and still LOVE Hongkong and Beijing. But my heart, my family, my life will be much more mongolian then chinese then. And I look forward to it :)

We planned to only make a very small zivil wedding, just sign the contracts and get the papers, maybe go eat dinner then. Because we plan to make a second wedding next year in switzerland - the place we will live at least the next couple years.
But I didnt count in my wife's family and I didn't count in my personal wishes. The longer I was thinking about the wedding, the more I wanted to actually have a real celebration. We have no money for a big thing, but hey... its my wedding! My parents will come, i will meed my wife's family the first time in my life, I will see mongolia the first time and I will marry a mongolian woman! So its the least to have a traditional ceremony, have a dinner with the family... and with this comes the need of wedding rings, wedding robe, wedding suit, a photographer.. and there you go.

So wish me good luck! I hope I will find time to actually explore my new "second home" a bit and take some pictures I can show you.
I'll keep you updated how it went and.. when my wife can move to me.

New Portfolio

Mon Apr 6, 2009, 1:09 PM
Hello everyone.

As you may have notived, I posted some new pictures here lately.
I am not sure I will continue this, since I simply lost most contacts on DA due to my "unactivity" for several years and the fact that long ago, I switched from my (back then) quite well known Profile "Flowingthought" to my actual name oliveroettli. This change never really worked, people didnt follow me here.

So my actual and only frequently updated Portfolio wil be here: [link] (Facebook Page).

I hope you will join me there and subscribe to my news there. It would be a pleasure to keep in touch and share artwork and get feedback.

Have a wonderful spring,
Hugs,
Oliver

Phew sooooo long

Well, I can't say that I'm really active on DA.

I just got no time to do it. Seriously. I work on my business, my photography, my career every day and I am damn busy doing so.

Deviant Art is leisure, pleasure, hobby. And I can't afford that anymore. I live from my photography and I have no family, no girlfriend, no wife taking care of me. So doing your own business, household and taking care of your cats is just damn time consuming.

However, the incredible Jingna [link] - the probably most talented photographer I have ever seen in my life - she always draws me back to dA. Because I come have a look at her new work from time to time. And I wanted to tell her this since so long and kinda missed it. And now she's about to be a star and will probably not answer emails anymore soon ;)

And so I clicked through some new work, old work and thought, I'll share some of my work with you.

Hope you enjoy.
If you do, come have a look at my website: [link]

Many things changed. I got my own studio now, I visited Hongkong several times, I switched from Canon to Nikon and I'm at the point where I work national wide and if things work out also in Asia (mainly Hongkong).

Let's see.

Hugs,
Oliver

New DA Career...?

Sat Sep 29, 2007, 8:06 AM
Hello everyone.
I have been active on DA since a long time ago. When I started, there were maybe 100'000 users on this page. My old account name is flowingthought [link] Later on, I stopped updating my profile here because I simply.. had other things to do.

In the meantime I became professional with my photography, I live form it and only from it.
This year was very hard for me, personally and mentally. I lost passion in my photography for a long time. It is slowly coming back, together with my joy in life. It is not true that the worse you feel, the more creative you are, trust me.
So today I was browsing through DA the first time since so long and I fell in love with hundreds of breathtaking photographs from artists all over the world. DA was the source of my inspiration many years ago, I hope it will be so again.

This is why I decided to share some of my work with the DA community again. Most of my work has not been looked through, retouched or worked on since a long time. I was extremely busy this year. Whenever my mental state allowed me to do something, I was working for clients. The truly creative process and my own projects were terribly neglected.

I do still hope you enjoy your stay and stop by from time to time.

Sincerely,
Oliver
